In 1984, Local 416 purchased the abandoned 1872 Fire Station No. 2 on a disinvested Massachusetts Avenue. Years of sweat equity transformed the dilapidated building and grounds, now home to the Union Hall, Firefighter Museum, Survive Alive fire safety education program, State Union office and Memorial Plaza. This complex is now being expanded to better serve the over two-thousand active and retired firefighters that comprise the membership, while also providing the community with meeting and performance space in the
now-vibrant Mass Ave Cultural District. The Firefighters have made their new meeting hall, as well as their outdoor gathering spaces, available as time-shared
performance spaces to help keep the arts alive on Mass Ave.
